Access to and the discovery of music has become near enough instant and desperately simple since the wide-scale availability of broadband and 3G. One of the many results of this is the accelerated number of artists emerging with a ‘new’ sound blending elements from many different genres. In many cases this becomes a confused mess but every now and again there’s a group that really nails their sound – Bearsteps are one such group. Hailing from London (via Macclesfield) the quartet finely blend elements of Blues, Folk and Acoustic Rock into some wonderfully constructed tracks.
This is a young band with clear signs of bigger things ahead and they’ve come to Resident Studios to undertake their first recordings proper since forming in 2012 and playing their first gig in January 2013. With senior engineer Tobi Lustigman managing the tech side of things, the band have been focusing on getting four tracks down to show the world what they’re all about beyond the early demos currently available. The guys finished up tracking everything (from drums and keyboards to flugalhorn parts) today and now they’re onto the mixing so we should be seeing the new recordings appearing online in the next few weeks.
For now you can catch the group live at the Troubadour in Earls Court on 6th July.
