A real treat for us yesterday, as we were honoured to have the mellifluous Gregory Porter and his band in Studio One, before he had to dash off to play at The Anvil, Basingstoke with Jools Holland.
For those that didn’t know, his debut album, Water, released in 2010 via Motéma Music, was nominated for Best Jazz Vocal album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, and is a mind-blowing record.
Without doubt he has one of the finest jazz voices on this blue planet of ours, and luckily for you dear people, he is indulging us with those blue notes in a series of live dates. Tonight (May 4th), it’s Friday Night is Music Night live on BBC Radio 2. 5th May he’s at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival with another Resident Regular, Jamie Cullum. On the 9th May he’s at Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry again with Jools, and 10th Alban Arena with Mr Holland.
You can find his full tour dates here, or listen out when you are next in the Studio, you’ll know him when you hear him.
Good luck on your tour Gregory, we hope to have you here again soon.
