If you like pop music but don’t think much of JLS et al then you’ll probably be into Katie Malco, or so she casually likes to think. Eighteen months on from her widely well received record And the soft parade on Alcopop, Katie’s finally recorded and announced another EP of fantastic piano & vocal based enchanting pop titled Tearing Ventricles. Katie got in touch with us about recording the EP here several months ago now but when the option of a free session on a Steinway Grand piano came up, not even our competitive rates could beat that. We can’t argue that the results are brilliant. The EP was tracked live in Kingston Uni and features a cover of an old Pariso song – a band Katie came to Resident to record some guest vocals for on their track Tower of Genus back in March.
Tearing Ventricles isn’t out until September but you can listen to and download the lead track for the release right now via Soundcloud.
In the mean time you can listen/watch the video for Sad Eyes below or get down to The Windmill in Brixton on Saturday 6th July to catch her live.
