Hazel O'Connor

Hazel O'Connor's groundbreaking 1980 album

As we drink our coffee and sip our tea, we are graced by the legendary singer/songwriter and actress Hazel O’Connor, who has joined us at Resident Studios this week for some mid-tour London rehearsals. Propelled to fame by her role in the seminal 1980 film Breaking Glass, Hazel went on to have a whole string of albums the most recent of which, I Give You My Sunshine, she’s touring at the moment.

Hazel’s collected equally mythical musicians to back her too, namely Sarah Fisher (keyboardist for The Eurythmics) and Claire Hirst (sax for Bowie among others). It is that haunting sax solo in the powerful Will You from Breaking Glass that is etched into our formative memories (well, those here that can remember back that far).

We just hope she’ll stay for the Eighth Day.

You can check out the tour dates from her Official Site and stay up to date via Twitter. Superb.
